4 year update- yep, consistently good. Don't blow this place up though I don't want it to change. To call it underrated is a misnomer. It's an ncsu institution. Original post- I love their calzones! I get them every once in a while as a treat. Delicious and beautiful. Staff has always been friendly and fair.
Let me tell you something....Checkers Pizza and Subs in Raleigh, NC has some seriously delicious food! How good? So good that the food had my car smelling so good that I couldn’t wait to eat, hence the reason for the pictures with portions of food missing. LOL My “All The Way” Small Pizza and Honey BBQ appetizer wings were exactly what I had been craving. The food hit that spot, and I had to call the restaurant back to thank them for my meal. Yes Lawd! The customer service in the restaurant was also excellent. This was my first time visiting Raleigh in many years, and my first experience at this establishment. I selected this particular restaurant after looking at different places on Yelp and liking their choice of menu items and pricing, compared to other restaurants. I was pleased to see how the staff at Checkers treated every customer. The quaint shop is clean and neat, and has space for dine-in or carry out. Checkers Pizza and Subs has an extensive menu that includes pizza, subs, Mediterranean food, and some vegetarian options. To top it off, they are open until 4:00am! How can you top a restaurant with great service, reasonable prices, delicious food, and menu variety, that is open until 4am? You can’t! I highly recommend Checkers Pizza and Subs. Was staying at a hotel and ordered delivery. Had the Shawarma platter with salad and Baba Ghanouj; and the Shish Tawook platter with rice and Baba Ghanouj. They were very large portions and just delicious. Started to eat before taking photos as they smelled and tasted great.
The chicken gyro is so delicious, I ate the whole thing. The menu is quite expensive though, but they have a lot of food cuisines.
Best of both worlds. Chicken shawarma and pizza. Always look forward to a random trip just to get food from here. Sorry no picture of the sandwich
This place seems to be very busy most nights but the staff still manages to provide quick and friendly service. I think the prices are great! When I place my order it’s always ready before I know it. I really like that they call your name when the order is ready. Other places will let you sit there. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. The pizza is always made fresh and served hot and delicious. The chicken tenders my favorite. They are pretty much homemade and the fries are crispy and delicious. Ketchup is always in the box which is great since I always forget to ask. They are open late and deliver which are two great things to offer since every other restaurant in town closes by 9 or 10:00PM. Thanks guys!

I go here for pizza, burgers, and wings. I cannot speak on the "shawerma stop" part of the business. Solid place for some solid food and love that they're open late. All zabiha halal too. They never get my order wrong, everything is delicious, hot, and fresh. Everyone is respectful and the prices are pretty decent. Butttt: The seating area is totally gross. Every single surface is sticky. But the cravings are so strong it doesn't stop me.
